Oh my goodness you guys…
What a trip! I’m back in town for a few days to dye up LYS club and retail orders, then back to Burlington again on Thursday, then back and forth for the next 5 weeks, then we’ll see where we go from there! Kestrel is doing amazing, and is kind of a medical miracle… They’re not really ready for public photos, but once they are I’ll be sure to post a photo or video. They are doing fantastic at the rehabilitation center, and learning multiple new skills each day. Most important of all, they have retained their sweet, loving personality, and although they have lots of memory gaps, they are always so positive when I tell them about themselves. Like, they had no idea that they were an accomplished woodworker, or that they are amazing at pottery… and they forgot they graduated from UVM and were so relieved to see the photo of themselves in their cap and gown. “Oh good! I’m so glad I graduated!” :)
We still have a long road ahead of us for recovery, but I’m just so happy they’re here and they are sweet and kind and funny and polite… just like they always were! And I’m so proud of how hard they’re working during their therapy sessions. We still don’t know when they’re coming home, or whether they’ll be in a wheelchair or with a walker (most likely wheelchair as their injuries were extensive and learning to walk again is a whole process) so we are continuing with the house renovation to make sure it’s ready as soon as possible for them to come home.
