September’s Newsletter!
Greetings All,
On a personal note, the good news is that my kid is coming home this week. The bad news is that they require 24 hr. care, and I don’t know how I’m going to do it.
I don’t really want to get into the details because quite frankly it’s super stressful and depressing…and at this moment I am unsure of whether they will ever be able to live independently again. Recovering from a TBI and stroke are hard… they are undernourished (107lbs. and 6’2” tall and 23 years old), they are exhausted, and they have no short term memory.
Meanwhile, my partner of 14 years and their father figure cut off all contact the day of the accident and has been providing no support for my kid. So in addition to coping with the loss of my partner… I’m also navigating this mostly alone. Quite frankly I’ve been really struggling with depression and anxiety (throwing up most mornings because I wake up in a panic). So yeah, not what I typically want to put in a newsletter, but it’s the truth.
I’m always encouraging others to ask for help when they need it, so here’s my appeal for help.
