Gilded Flicker

$34.00

The Gilded Flicker (Colaptes chrysoides) is a woodpecker species found in various arid and semi-arid habitats of southwestern North America. They often excavate nest cavities in saguaro cacti, benefiting from the cactus's thick, protective skin. Gilded Flickers are social birds and are often seen in pairs or family groups. They drum on dead trees or other resonant surfaces to communicate with other flickers and establish their territory. Gilded Flickers produce various vocalizations, including a "wicka-wicka-wicka" call.
