The Himalayan Monal (Lophophorus impejanus) is a striking pheasant species native to high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, spanning across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and parts of Tibet. They inhabit coniferous and mixed forests. These birds are adapted to living in high altitudes, ranging from 6,900 to 14,800 feet above sea level. The Himalayan Monal holds cultural significance in the region and is the state bird of Uttarakhand in India.
