A member of the sunfish family endemic to eastern North America, Pumpkinseeds (Lepomis gibbosus) tend to stay in shallow water and feed throughout the day. They are not fussy eaters and will bite at most bait, including pieces of bread. This feeding behavior allows them to be fairly easy to catch.
